Introduction to the School of Health Management


The School of Health Management of Peking University Founder Technology College was originally called the Health Branch. It was established in 2011 with 7 majors (directions included) including nursing, International Nursing, Chinese and Western Medicine Integrated Nursing, Emergency Nursing, Medical Equipment Application Technology, Community Rehabilitation and Elderly Service and Management. There are 7 teaching and research sections including Basic Medical Teaching and Research Section, Humanities and Medicine Teaching and Research Section, Basic Nursing Teaching and Research Section, Clinical Nursing Teaching and Research Section, Medical Equipment Application Technology Teaching and Research Section, Rehabilitation Therapy Technology Teaching and Research Section, Elderly Service and Management Teaching and Research Section, and three administrative agencies including Student Management and Literacy Training Center, Internship and Employment Guidance Center, and Medical Training and Health Service Center.

Training Mode

It was the established relying on Peking University Medical Group, following the idea of “Building profession relying on the industry”. The “professional chain” driven by the “industrial chain”, and the “Big Professional and Small Direction” talents cultivation strategy will be implemented based on the development concept of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei. We adhere to the idea of combining professional skills and professional ethics and paralleling operational ability and psychological quality in the process of cultivation with the following characteristics:

1. Adhere to employment-oriented talent training mode that drives the professional "enrollment entrance" with the "employment export" of the employer, and highlights the "school-enterprise cooperation and theory-practice integration".

2. Attach great importance to the cultivation of professional literacy, highlight the concept of “holistic health”, take “life education” as the core, the new “physical-psychological-social-culture” medical model as the guide, “hospital information-based system and health big data” as the advantages, and cultivate high-quality skilled innovative talents with the label of “Founder Health”.



Internship employment

There are 31 training hospitals for nursing majors, all of which are tertiary comprehensive hospitals, of which more than 80% are in the top three hospitals; there are 4 training hospitals for community rehabilitation and 16 internship enterprises (hospitals) for medical equipment application technology. 

The nursing profession has three teaching hospitals, Peking University International Hospital, Peking University Shougang Hospital and Aviation General Hospital. It implements the “1.5+1.5 Nightingale-style” teaching mode; there are well-known Chinese and Western hospitals including Peking University People’s Hospital, Peking University Third Hospital, and the capital. Beijing Friendship Hospital affiliated to Medical University, Beijing You'an Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University, Dongzhimen Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, and Oriental Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, etc. Our interns have won high praise from the training hospitals for their high professional ethics, solid theoretical foundation and proficient practical skills. In recent years, “internship drives the employment rate”, the “employment rate” and “industry counterpart rate” have reached new highs.


Introduction to School of Health Care


Nursing:

We train talents in clinical care, community care, elderly care, home care, rehabilitation care and health care for hospitals at all levels, urban and rural community health service centers (stations), elderly care institutions, occupational health management institutions, rehabilitation institutions and health and epidemic prevention institutions. The students can be engaged in clinical nursing, health care, nursing education and nursing research, nursing administration and health consultation and guidance work. Two years later they can become nurse practitioner - nurse-in-charge, deputy nurse director – nurse director. 



Medical Equipment Application Technology:

We train talents in operation management, maintenance and repair of medical engineering equipment for hospitals and medical device companies at all levels. The students can be engaged in medical equipment management and maintenance, product assembly, quality inspection, after-sales technical services and other work. Three to five years later they can try to be assistant medical engineer - medical engineer - senior medical engineer.

 

Community Rehabilitation (Health Service Management):

We train talents in modern community rehabilitation, nursing and health care for hospitals at all levels, community rehabilitation centers, sports rehabilitation centers, urban and rural community health service centers (stations) and other institutions. Graduates can be engaged in basic rehabilitation treatment, rehabilitation management, health care and home care and other work. After graduation they can be rehabilitation health care therapist - rehabilitation physiotherapists - rehabilitation therapist.


 

Senior Services and Management

We have trained talents in old-age care services, elderly care and management of old-age care institutions at all levels, hospitals, urban and rural community health service centers (stations) and rehabilitation institutions. Graduates can be engaged in services and management of the elderly, elderly institutions evaluation, elderly product development and marketing, etc. After graduation, they can develop towards the direction of elderly care -- management of pension institutions -- planning and evaluation of pension institutions
